Every year on April 22, Earth Day marks the birth of the modern environmental movement, that began in the 1960s. This U.S. movement began to take off after World War II, as people began to recognise the costs of environmental negligence, disease, and the expansion of air and water pollution through the occurrence of several environmental disasters that occurred post World War II.

It has been rightly stated by Lady Bird Johnson, “The environment is where we all meet; where all have a mutual interest; it is the one thing all of us share.”

We humans have been incessantly destroying our fellow mates ‘ realms — those who have tried to make us understand the importance of living together in unison and the necessity of restoring the resources we have continually and mercilessly been using up — the messengers of Mother Nature: the birds, the animals and even the tiny insects living in tree barks.

There has always been one sentence in our textbooks — “We must act fast and make an attempt to save our planet Earth before it gets too late.”

But have we ever even thought of making a real attempt towards saving this huge orb? No, we have just been “READING” it without even thinking about its actual meaning.

Not only 22nd of April, but every day must belong to the Earth — Mother Earth…the one who has been tolerating all our wrongdoings from the very beginning, and she is the one whose only happiness is our joy, in spite of the ABUSE we have been doing to her. Not much time is left, whatever is to be done has to be done right now. Let us all come together for the sake of our home and ourselves, and reassemble the pieces of this great jigsaw. If we are hurting Nature, it is nothing but us ourselves who we harm.

SAVE EARTH, SAVE EVERY DAY.

HAPPY EARTH DAY, not only for today, but for each and every day yet to arrive!
